As a business owner, you can run your business as a sole proprietor, or it can be run as a business structure, such as an LLC. Form an LLC as the structure for business is an excellent decision for most businesses. Operating your operation as an LLC brings quite a few benefits.

Following are five benefits you see when you think about creating an LLC:

1. Protection of personal assets – If you own a business, there is more chances you may be sued. You have to shield your personal assets from those of your company, so your personal assets are untouchable if your company is sued. By starting an LLC that is correctly setup, you are usually protected.

2. Profession image – Nothing says trustworthy company like a legitimate business structure. Just about anybody can call themselves a company, but it is those that go the extra distance by forming a business structure show how serious they are about their company, and customers take notice of this.

3. Gain confidence of others – If your business is an LLC, then it is particularly easy to find suppliers in which to do business with you, and a lot easier to get a bank to lend you money. Running your company as a profession, and not a side venture, is a tremendous way to be trusted by those other businesses that you need to work with.

4. Low audit risk – Sole proprietors are at greater risk to facing an IRS audit than LLCs. This most likely has something to do with the chance that someone might be saying they are a business to just get some tax benefits (which are actually better as an LLC) and the IRS knows this. The thought is that if someone has taken the trouble of forming an LLC, it is likely they are in business for genuine purposes.

5. Business flexibility – When operating as an LLC, there are more options in how to handle operating your operation. Adding additional owners is a simple process, which is not possible as a sole proprietorship. A limited liability company is a very flexible structure for business that gives you a variety of alternatives on how your company should be run.

As an entrepreneur, you should do what you can to run it as affectively as possible. Choosing an LLC as the business structure for your business has multiple strong points, even more than those listed in this article. Take your operation seriously and consider forming an LLC.
